Just getting started ... need help Can someone highlight the major components or steps involved with burning games (for backups)? For instance, I have too many coasters and I woould like to find out if a game has been succefully burned before I even attempt. Also, what are some good resources for accomplishing each step. A quick bulleted list would be fine, I can look up each topic afterwards. thanks, phatmatt ![]()

info I have an HP CD-writer+ 9700k burner and a Mitsumi CD Rom FX4830T!B reader. I'm using win98se and the HP RecordNow (veritas) software that shipped with the drive. I've downloaded the latest CloneCD, but it already failed once, so I want to make sure I'm doing things correctly.

i think you will have problems with your burner. Hp are not famous for backing up protected games ok the clone-cd thread...would be good for you to read first http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=18&s= when you write a cd with clone-cd be sure to use (EWS). It is needed for burners than are not so good with protections http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone...hewlettpackard

burners What's a good burner? I've read the LiteOn burners are good for the money. Also, does the reader have anything to do with the process. I have a reader with 2mb cache, but I haven't seen any with anything higher than that. thanks

yes the reader is important too... yes..lite-on are cheap and can back-up a lot of protections with good software they also can be used to read the cd's i think the cache in your reader is used to get an even flow of data out o the reader...but i am not sure about that 9could be totaly wrong) have a look in the lite-on forum to see what the drives can do; http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=44&s=
