Burnt my first DVD+R disc...!

Hey All,
My first post here and my first experience with a DVD burner so kindly excuse any stupidity.

I just purchased a new DVD burner (a combo burner, make: GALAXY)

I burnt some data on to a DVD-R disc and it played fine on my DVD-ROM...then I burnt some other data on a DVD+R disc and when i put the disc in my DVD-ROM (make:Matshita)...it tells me that the drive is empty...but when i try to read the disc from my DVD burner...i see all the files.

Why is that? I thought DVD+ technoligy was supposed to have wider coverage even for future technoligies.....right?

I am on a P3 566mhz, win2k pro machine with 256mb RAM
(dont think it matters but also 80 gb harddisk with around 3 gb free)

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Ryan

How old is that dvd-rom you are putting the +R media into? It is possible that the +R media is not reckognized by that drive.

As I understand it, -R currently is mot compatible with dvd-rom drives.

If your drive supports book setting, use a DVD +R, but set the book type to dvd-rom. That should help out.
