same here, will reformat if needed and not spend time/money on the endless anti-this and anti-that software applications.
i do have a linksys router with whatever that has and i did download the antispyware beta that microsoft is giving xp users.
no AV here.

I'd say NOD 32 of the Payware's;
AVG of the freeware's; (only because Avast! locked up my system a few times)
Death to Symantec who took Mr Nortons good work and bloated it up for the home user.
Spyware Blaster is an amazing app that really works - prevention is always better than cure.

Re: Best Anti Virus?

I have been using Trend Micro's PC-cillin since version 1 back in 1995. The current version is PC-cillin Internet Security 2005. Knock on wood, I have never been hurt by a virus, and I mean never. Although the price $49.95 scares some people off, the old adage holds very true in this case. You get what you pay for! If you are interested take a look at this page:

Re: Best Anti Virus?

i never cease to be amazed at how quickly AVG's virus database is updated - auto-updates daily but i like to manually check for updates sometimes and have had instances of 3 updates in a single day...free version to boot...

Re: Best Anti Virus?

Didn't know it updated that often. I had, however, recommended it to someone, because of your recommendation, Dr.Pino. It's obvious you're one of the guys around here that has figured out what works well and what doesn't...

Re: Best Anti Virus?

cheers for the sentiment Quema but i just know what works well for me and hope that it can possibly be the same for others...that's all everyone's got his/her preferences and system setups (hw/sw) are as idiosyncratic as our own personalities...

Re: Best Anti Virus?

Yo-

Earlier in this thread (about 4 months ago) I had made positive statements about Panda Titanium 2004 antivirus program-

In July - I changed to Pandas Platinum Internet 2005 - WHAT A PIECE OF $HIT PROGRAM!!! - I had it installed for three days and had more errors and trouble than in the past two years with Panda-

Needless to say - I dumped it got Trend Micros Internet 2005 and it has been an absolute positive experience and found it on www.pricewatch.com for $21 shipped per copy - with one year of updates-

This happens a LOT, actually. AVG 7 was worse in just about every way than AVG 6, yet now AVG 6 is no longer supported.
