backing up x-box games for chipped x box

Before everyone starts "freaking out" and informing me to do a search (which i have done already). The reason for the post is that i have just purchased a chipped x-box with the apprantly new? xecuter 2 chip in it.

Because i have 2 sons who will be using the box (aged 8 & 9) i was wondering if there was a simple way to back up the games as they will undoubtably get damaged in the near future.

I own a pioneer dvd 105 writer and i have backed up a few DVD movies for my kids for the same reason so i have a bit of experiance.

Is there a simple way to back up the games so they will play on my chipped x-box?

cheers

Good to see you tried to find an answer first, more people should do so

But from what I know about the X-box (which is, honestly, not that much), it is the discs that cannot be backed up because of its data structure and not because of a boot section that will not be copied (as with PSX & PS2, which can be overcome easily by a modchip).

I thought that a chipped X-box allows you to install other things (linux for example), but not playing backed up games...since the limitation is (still) on the discs and not on the machine. (but as said, don't know much on this and would gladly step aside for anyone who is more expert in this field)

Hey there skilby99 ,

I found this website which explains how to make decent backups of your xbox games directly to your harddisk.

From what I understand if you have a properly modded console the backup should work. Xbox games cannot be read by your computer so you have to copy the files from your xbox via ftp link. Then burn the ISO image. (of couse you probably know this already cause that site says the same thing) but I am very interested to know if this works too.

From my expirience, both DVD - and + work fine.

Just don't do CD-R, or DVD-RW/+RW. I don't think those work.
