Anybody know how to add text to a CD?

Well i have a CD player that can display the song names. I have a couple of .SHN's that i want to convert to .Wav . Do i just simply rename the file and text will be displayed? or do i have to do something diffrent? Thanks everyone

No, it won't work that way

What you need to do is first decompress the SHN songs to wav. (You can use the SHN decompress utility (never used it myself) or the Winamp Disk Writer plugin if you are playing SHNs through Winamp). Then burn the wav files using a CD burning program like Easy CD Creator or Nero or Feurio which allow you to make Audio CDs. When choosing the options, make sure the 'Write CD Text' checkbox is selected and you have selected 'Close disc' (or Disc At Once option). The burnt CD should display the tracknames properly in your player now.

Your writer has to support writing CD-Text though....

I have the same problem. I use Nero 6 but it won't write track and artist name onto audio cds. When I burn MP3 cds it does but not with normal audio cds (.cda) I have all the correct options ticked (write cd text, disc at once/96) finalize cd but no luck. Any help !!

Audio CD is a wrong format (in this case). MP3 stuff should be burnt as data using CD-ROM (ISO).

Thanks BoSkin. I want to endup with an audio cd that
I can play in all cd players (car). Therefore it has to be in .cda format.
Any more ideas?

Ah, okay, that's what you mean !

You have to decompress your mp3 files to WAVs first, then you'll be able to burn those in Audio format.

Decompession can be done with programs like CDex & EAC ( these 2 are free ),
Feurio!® can do it "on-the-fly" , i.e. :
Quote:
If MP3 files are added to the project from the Hard Disk View, these files can be automatically unpacked (on request):

·Unpack Automatically:

All MP3 files are unpacked automatically, i.e. stored as ”normal” wave files. This has the advantage that Feurio!® is able to access the files directly without first having to unpack them.
The problems described at ”Decoding MP3 Files” when accessing MP3 files directly are avoided as well.
The disadvantage of course is the space requirement of the wave files...

Also here's a list of Audio Conventers

Hopefully this helps.

Re: Anybody know how to add text to a CD?

I'm glad I found this thread! I run a small production company doing mainly commercial voice overs as well as corporate videos. I had always found it handy to have CD titles display on the actual player's display. I, like most, use a DVD player to play CDs. I only use Sony players. What I would like to know is how to add the text display to DVDs I author. I cannot seem to find much information regarding this. Someone had suggested a couple of obscure applications on another forum, but I found those very user unfriendly. Is there some simple way to do this? For software I have many different applications I use including Nero. I also use Sony Sound Forge, Sony Vegas Pro 8.

Thanks in advance!
