Newbie Forum Discuss, Analog to Digital Software Recommendations at International Chat: General Topics forum; Just got a new computer and I have a large collection of cassettes I would like to move to CD or DVD. What software would you recommend I use. The PC has a line level audio input that I was thinking I could use.

Analog to Digital Software Recommendations

Just got a new computer and I have a large collection of cassettes I would like to move to CD or DVD. What software would you recommend I use. The PC has a line level audio input that I was thinking I could use.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I am sure you could find a free software that will record the music to the hard drive without any enhancement, but I use "DC Millenium" from
http://www.enhancedaudio.com/
and "Wavelab 5". I would think if you are going to record from cassette you are going to want to remove some background noise and adjust gain etc.

I like the freeware program

Audacity

It has a number of filters that can be applied to help improve the audio after it's recorded.
