Newbie Forum Discuss, Alternative decrypter to DVD decrypter at International Chat: General Topics forum; Hi, I'm using DVD Decrypter to rip films before i copy them to DVD. I've only ever encountered 3 DVD's where the decryption process was unsuccessfull. I was just wondering whether anyone could recommend an alternative to DVD decrypter which may work on these 3 DVD's

try dvd shrink. i use this and it works great for me. it rips and shrinks(compresses) all at the same time.

Re: Alternative decrypter to DVD decrypter

Well, what are the 3 DVDs and what DVD-ROM/DVD writer are you using? You do realize some DVDs can't be ripped because they are just flawed/bad discs right?

However, if you insist, there's always CloneAD @ clonead.co.uk

smartripper is very good for selecting which chapters you want and then making them into new .vobs, however you will need a adaptec aspi driver

Re: Alternative decrypter to DVD decrypter

The only time I ran into trouble with dvddcrypter, was when ripping with a modified dvd-rom, was set to region 0, opening the disk in power dvd did'nt help, same disk ripped fine in my 2510a and ripped though.

Anydvd is a good choice, and I personally like dvdshrink..........but dvdshrink "wants" to compress......what it was made for. Depends on you project really.

Re: Alternative decrypter to DVD decrypter

The DVD i was having trouble with now was 'Secret window' (with johny Depp). Both DVD decrypter and Shrink failed. I'm going to try AnyDVD next. (Also the DVD is ok since i watched it without any problems)
