Newbie Forum Discuss, Alcohol Program at International Chat: General Topics forum; Hi. I have read posts talking about a program called Alcohol 120%. I downloaded the trial vers. to read about it. Am I missing something? Other than providing a virtual drive to load DVDs and CDs on so they can run from the hard drive ... isn't the Shrink DVD

Alcohol Program

Hi. I have read posts talking about a program called Alcohol 120%. I downloaded the trial vers. to read about it. Am I missing something? Other than providing a virtual drive to load DVDs and CDs on so they can run from the hard drive ... isn't the Shrink DVD program better suited for DVD copys cause it can remove portions and compress others? and ... If Alcohol relys on a currently installed program like Nero ... whats the point?

thanks ... I'm learnin

Hi Jj4,

Alcohol 120% is a good program for backing up PC games. It also is able to Backup PSX and PS2 games if your console got a modchip. You can run your games from your harddrive using the virtual drives with your dumped image of the game. Never used it for backing up DVD movies.

ha.. no wonder it didn't look so good for DVD backups. I can remember taking apart my kids playstation and soldering a mod chip in quite a few yrs ago. Is that the same proceedure with the new PS2?

thanks,
joe

I have a PS2 but no mod chip, but as far as I know once you chiped your PS2 shouldn't be a problem playing your backups.
You can take a look here, this should be a good help.
