Alcohol 120 / Installing conflicts?

Newbie post here, though I read the rules and did a search I didn't find the answer I was looking for and hope for some help here.

I run tons of different games at the same time. I legally own them. I have been using No-CD cracks when available, and when not I've been using Alcohol 120 Iso's on an optical drive to bypass disc scans. All has been grand for years.

I have run into a problem this week with a couple of legit games I've gotten off of E-bay, Titan Quest and Prey. Both will install disc one, ask for disc two, and then the install program will freeze. A large white screen will pop up over the background, and nothing else happens.

My system is good enough to run everything, with all drivers I can think of updated. At first I thought it was visual, now I think it may be a copy-protection deal on newer software, since both games have the identical problem.

Is there a work-around? I enjoy letting the CD/DVD drives have a break, as well as not switching out discs all the time. Thanks!

Re: Alcohol 120 / Installing conflicts?

After no responses for several days here I did much more research about this question online, and will respond in case anyone runs across this. It's not alcohol 120, it was installing a new DVD drive that did it. The DVD drive turned on a protection (a three letter acronym, DLM? or something that now I forget) with it's software.

Install Shield for both Titan Quest and Prey saw this as an illegal optical drive. Alcohol would shield itself from detection with the newest version.

The protection can be unactivated by right clicking on the drive, going to the acronyms tab, and unchecking that option.
