About Sony media. . . I was desperate and bought a spindle of 80 min 32x discs. label on cake box said made in Taiwan. These were indetified as manufactured by "maybe" LeadData,SONY. Nasty!!! The SMART-BURN speed limit on these was 32x, but the discs produced were loaded with errors. I had to throttle all the way back to 12x to get error free burns. I'm sure Sony makes better media than this, but I'll definitely be staying away from the silver topped 32x "Supermas" ![]() | |

| Well my Sony CDR's are gold colored, and speed rated on the box x48, I didnt tried them yet, becose I just fixed my problem with my Sony burner, I was getting a lot of not readable CD.So now I got that straitendout, so yesterday I burned like 4 CD at x48 speed, no errors averaged 3.00 min. burn time. And media was cheap, I buy all my CDR at Circuitcity, BestBuy, so with the mail in rebait it's cheap, say I boght 100 CD spindel for 20$ at Staples, an I'am getting 20$ mail in rebait back, can't beat that So thous CDR where Optimum brand, I thought they gonna be shidy, but turn's out they Ok, no errors, just one thing, when I do surface scan with Nero CD speed the very last cluster comes out red (unreadable) it's 0.10 %, but CD's works fine I record a lot of movies, I played them they work just fine! Now I have a question, what means CMC & TY, and what the diferents? So so far I came to conclusion that FUJI & TDK is best CDR. And where you getting that smart-burn limit is it in nero? Becose I'am using Burnatonce!

| 48x Fuji (TY) seems to be the choice. Questions: Ignoring price for the moment, are 48x TY's (such as those at cdrplanet.com or blank-cd-cdr.com) at the same preference level as 48x Fuji's or is it preferred to buy the Fuji labeled ones? 48x Fuji: Are all 48x Fuji's TY's? Can they be specified? If not are there any vendor(s) who will always give you the right 48x Fuji's? 48x TY: Is there a way to specify the versions preferred by this forum? Are there any vendor(s) who will always give you the right 48x TY's? |

| Re: Witch media is best in USA? TY CD-R is getting RARE, most Fuji I find are MIT prodisc, back in the old day, almost every spindle of Fuji is made in Japan, now good luck finding Fuji made in Japan. The only TY media that are readily available is the Maxell Pro and Maxell Audio, but you have to pay the premium for the "Pro" and "audio"

| Re: Witch media is best in USA? Not bad if you have a Sam's club near you. Although you can get 100 unbranded TY from rima.com for just a little bit more and they are 52x. www.rima.com *EDIT* also, the music CD-Rs are limited to just one application. ![]() |
