problems burning dvds...

I have tried several different medias and get poor results. The current media I am trying is "supposed" to be compatable with my hardware. If I burn a small video to DVD it works fine... but if I make a backup copy of a full DVD, or record to anywhere close to the capacity of the DVD I get extreemly poor quality on playback. I get no errors, just when it's played back there are spots with pixels out of place and hanging video.

Here is the information on the media and player I am using now... Do I need a new player? I thought this one was high quality. I have tried various media... please help! As far as I know this is the latest firmware for the drive.

Re: problems burning dvds...

Have you tried playing your burnt DVD's on a different player? It could be either that your Burner/Media is producing marginal burns but equally well it could just be that your home player is overly fussy. Some very fussy home players will only work well with particular media. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are two of the most likely candidates to try (for good results) if you have a fussy player.

If they won't work it's time for a new burner.
