Re: MKM 001 Vs MKM 003

I am seeing very comparable results, only difference is that my SH-S203B likes to burn the MKM003 faster

Re: MKM 001 Vs MKM 003

I rather like MKM 003, very pretty scans and flawless TRTs.

Haven't had the privelege of trying MKM 001...yet.

Re: MKM 001 Vs MKM 003

i wonder how MKM 003 (which are 8x right?) would burn on a older Lite-On 1673S (from 2005) ? ... max speed of my burner for dual layer media is 4x.... it burns MIS MKM 001 pretty good @ 4x.

(the firmware on my drive does support MKM 003 media code)

p.s. cause seeing how MKM 001 (MII) is turning out, which seems questionable... we need to get back to a reliable media , and maybe the MKM 003 are it.

Re: MKM 001 Vs MKM 003

MKM 003 wrote better scan-wise for me, but that is probably heavily influenced by drives' abilities [MKM 001 was written on older LiteOn SOHW-1633S, SOHW-1693S, and Sony DRU-810A, while MKM 003 was written on LiteOn LH-20A1H, Samsung SH-S182M, and probably Sony DRU-840A].

MIS MKM 001 is making a comeback in the states. I think Verbatim realized they made a mistake, and decided to mix production instead of going with Moser Baer exclusively.

Really? Is there a package change too or just the "Made in info" obviously?

Re: MKM 001 Vs MKM 003

My laptop burner writes dl at 2.4x so how would it go burning MKM 003 8x media at 2.4x? is it probably better to use MIS MKM 001 still?

Re: MKM 001 Vs MKM 003

I personally haven't had an MKM 001 burn come close to this one, never mind the fact that the MKM 003 was burnt @10X.

MKM 003 burn

Yeah even 2.4x is slow for MKM001 IMO. Many newer writers have zero problems with them @ 4x.

I would burn MKM003 @ 4x or 6x. Probably 4x for best results. Testing it out is the best way to find out but I really wouldn't burn @ 2.4x because the 003 are designed for higher speed. It's like burning a 16x SL disc @ 4x, sometimes it will create more jitter and errors than higher speeds will.
