Picked up a cake box of these at Future Shop in Montreal. Wrapper said they were 8X but DVDInfo and Nero say 4X.
Does anyone know who actually makes these? They were on the shelf at CAD49.99 but their web site shows them at CAD29.99 for 25.

but if thats a 25 pack dvd+r then it must be made in taiwan. if it is made in india, its by moser baer, just a guess

PLextools gave a pretty good PI/PO reading on the one disk I ve burned so far , so my question about the mfg was mainly to see what kind of track record they had and if it was worth stocking up on these.

"MEDIA ID001" is a generic code and discs that bear this code can come from anywhere. I have "MEDIA ID001" discs that were made in Hong Kong, and others that were made in Taiwan. All in all, I'd say these are discs to avoid.

If it's "Made In India", it has to be MBI. I don't think anyone else makes DVDR/RW discs here.

Basically: I picked up a 100 pack DVD+R from Futureshop. They are MADE IN INDIA and they are clearly Labeled 8x.

However, mine have mediacode PRODISC R03. They burn just great at 8x with my NEC ND-2500A. Don't have a Liteon drive to post K-probe scans. However verify with DVDinfopro and Nero DVD-speed came out perfect.

I bought a 5-pack of Kodak +R from Futureshop as well. Discs are made in Taiwan and their media code is Prodisc R03. I burned one at 8X with my Benq DW822A and the results were very good.

Running Nero CD-DVD Speed on the Benq writer, the results turned out to be as follows:
Maximum PI: 12
Maximum Jitter: 10.4%
Quality Score: 99

I guess it's all luck if you get teh R02s or R03s
