Blank Media Discuss, Differ MCC's(003/004)? Differ Taiyo (TYG02/yuden000 02)? at International Chat: Hardware related forum; I was just curious as the difference between MCC 004 and MCC 003. I currently use 004 and have run into problems at the bottom of the spindle (weird) and was wondering which of those 2 were better? Also i was wondering about Taiyo media. I've seen ID's

I was just curious as the difference between MCC 004 and MCC 003. I currently use 004 and have run into problems at the bottom of the spindle (weird) and was wondering which of those 2 were better?

Also i was wondering about Taiyo media. I've seen ID's be YUDEN000 02 and TYG02/3. Whats the difference between those 2 and which of those 2 are better?

I just like to have the best quality dvd's as im not making mistakes buying cheap media. I was looking for 16x media if that is some needed info.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Differ MCC's(003/004)? Differ Taiyo (TYG02/yuden000 02)?

MCC004 is the MID for 16x DVD+R media...MCC003 is the MID for 8x DVD+R media...

YUDEN000 T02 is the MID for 8x DVD+R Tayio Yuden media (can be burned up to 16x in most burners)...TYG02 is the MID for 8x DVD-R TY media and TYG03 is the MID for 16x DVD-R media...

all of the above are considered upper-echelon media but there are variables involved such as brand (Verbatim versus various others for the MCC code and OEM TY versus Fuji, Sony, TDK, etc.) and for the MCC MIDs they can be manufactured in Taiwan (most common), Singapore (least common) and even Mexico/India (but these are usually Moser Baer and carry a different MID)...there are also various producers of MCC (CMC and Prodisc are the most common)...

Re: Differ MCC's(003/004)? Differ Taiyo (TYG02/yuden000 02)?

oh wow. Didnt know each speed of the disc plus the +/- of the disk is all a factor in those MID's. Hm, im more a fan for 16x DVD+R's so ill look into the TY T02, and by guessing that 16x +R would be YUDEN000 03?

I've bought Verbatim MCC 004 which was made in Singapore, i guess i should go for the ones made in Taiwan from now on.

Thanks for the info about the MID's i was lost on all those classifications, lol.

yeah, there are many variables involved with deciphering MIDs...not sure what the MID of 16x DVD+R TY is...but i don't think it's available in the US yet...TY T02 is arguably the best media (including bang for the buck) right now...

i'm pretty sure Verbatim MCC004 made in Singapore is BETTER than any Taiwan made Verbatim MCC (since it's Mitsubishi produced and Verbatim is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi) so i'd stick with that if you can find it (getting more and more rare these days as Verbatim is outsourcing nearly all production to CMC)... i was actually under the impression that all MCC004 was from Taiwan from CMC.

no problem and welcome to CDFreaks stick around, read up, learn a lot and enjoy this wonderful online community

Alrighty I guess ill stick to the 004 from Singapore.

Is that TY for DVD+R 8x (yuden000 02?). Do they do good with Overburning? Or jsut wait til 16x +R TY.

Yea thanks for the welcome to the community, its quite a big forum here heh. Ever since i got my first dvd burner, BenQ 1640, after long research, i decided to read up on media.

Re: Differ MCC's(003/004)? Differ Taiyo (TYG02/yuden000 02)?

YUDEN000 T02 is certified for 8x burning but can be oversped (different than overburned) up to 16x but 12x is generally the best compromise between speed and burn quality...

good choice on the 1640, i just picked one up myself...why i need 4 DVD burners well, i can thank this place for that one...
