its simple but u can get stuck in places becuase of various variables. for example, the blank dvd-r might suck and ur ps2 may refuse to read them very well. then ur program that u use to burn might not be very good for ps2. record now max and nero should be ok for ps2 burning. then theres the problem with how old ur ps2 is. apparently version 1-4 arent that good coz they have weaker lasers and things can go wrong. i have a v4 and things r ok at the moment (touch some wood lol). then theres the mod chip that u get installed. DMS3 and messiah2 r meant to be the best. there r some other chips but those r the good ones that always work so i would reccommend those.

I actually use a flip-top + swapmagic to play backup my own game. I'd like to keep my machine unmodded just in case for online game.

I do not really care about longevity of backup, cause I have the original and will re-backup again if needed. This way all my discs are prestine and can be sold at good price.

From my experience, as long as the PI/PO is low, it is very likely to work with my V4 PS2. Even DVD+R with DVD-ROM booktype works okay.
