Changing bitsetting/booktype killed my DVD+RW disc

I have a Sony DW-U18A, I upgraded the firmware to write DVD+RW discs as DVD-ROM.
I wrote one DVD+RW with the booktype set to DVD-ROM and now I cannot erase that DVD+RW because the drive thinks the disc is not writable. Also the drive then crashes and the computer forgets the drive exists.

Is there any way to force the disc to be written as a DVD+RW again, without the drive forgetting it exists when I insert the confused disc?

Help, thanks in advance.

Re: Changing bitsetting/booktype killed my DVD+RW disc

I booktype my +RW discs to -ROM all the time and it's never done that to me.

Worst comes to worst, flash your drive to VS05 and play with the instant +RW booktype change feature.
