| Re: Best Surface Error detecting tool Suggest you read up a bit on "Read errors". There are no consumer based tools for detecting "surface errors" on optical media. For that you need a CATS scanner and a load of $. There's also a whole forum for these discussions. None of these tools will tell you anything about file integrety, that's a completely different thing. |

There is no "best" test, no "accurate" or "inaccurate", they're all just different tools for reporting how well drive A can read disc A. | |

| Re: Best Surface Error detecting tool If you just want a surface scan Nero CD/DVD Speed is fine. It will tell you if your disc is readable. Chances are if everything is green, there should be no problem reading it. I've never actually seen the yellow come up on my surface scans so I don't know if how unreadable they are. Red is a definite coaster, even just 1 or 2 red spots will freeze a disc on a player. Don't get too discouraged by people reporting problems, that's why they access these forum, people without problems don't need to. I burned hundreds of discs on Liteon an NEC drives, the only problems I have ever had were with cheap media, spend the extra $.20 per disc and get something decent. |

| Re: Best Surface Error detecting tool But if there are freezes on a film on a cd and the reason if because the disc has had a bad burn would it definatly come up with errors in the surface scan still?? |
