Bad dye distribution?

Ive noticed this is occuring on a certain batch of cmc f01s (HP) dvd+r media.
seems about a third along the burn i get a round lighter ring. this occurs on all my burners so i dont think its a burner issue. On my Liteon its the most pronounced causing really high pos (coaster). i get a respectable burn from the nec at 8x with these but still see a light ring and high pis (but not pos) where the ring is. Id say its a bad dye area or a defect in the disks..

@Jamos:
Why is there no media code for your discs ? You say these are CMCs ....
does the media code vanish after the burn ? ( ur kprobe has no media code )....that's weird

Re: Bad dye distribution?

Yes, this occurs when you take the disc out of your LiteON drive BEFORE you save the KProbe scan image. To prevent this, keep the scanned disc in your drive until AFTER you've saved the KProbe scan.

Re: Bad dye distribution?

I've also seen HP CMC 4x +R with uneven dye. One had dye slobbers all over at the inside edge of the dye area, with a visable "Wave" in the burned area where the dye was uneven.

Maybe HP is selling CMC seconds.

Re: Bad dye distribution?

Looks like it since they are f01 00 and not f01 01s.

Bottom line with my liteon 812 is that it doesnt handle bad media well this is a inexteria disk dvd+r same type of issue.

Re: Bad dye distribution?

well i got a new 812 and it seems to handle the media better..as well if not better than the nec 2500a..im keeping this 812 its black too which means better laser burns because of a darker interior.
