Weird A/V Sync Error

OK, here's the problem:

I created a VCD of the TV series "The OC" using VCDeasy. Just to give you as much information as possible, here's how I did it:

I put an intro picture as well as an ending picture. I also placed in a chapter point at every minute.

The source file is Xvid and uses VBR mp3, so I used virtual dub to extract the audio, then using winamp's disk writer utility plug-in, converted it into a whole wav file. Then, I used TMPEnc to convert the AVI file to MPG (with the WinAmpped audio file for the audio stream.)

I adjust the AV sync using womble VCR-Mpeg and testing the MPG file, it works perfectly. From there create the VCD Image and burn it.

The problem occurs this way:

I play the VCD on a standalone player. The first few minutes the audio sync is perfect, but once it reaches a certain point it syncs off. The weird thing is, when I start the movie from the chapter near where it starts syncing out, the problem doesn't happen anymore; the movie plays fine until it happens again. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Hmm... your right a wierd a/v sync problem. I'd be 99% right assuming the real problem lies with your Player and not the MPG file.

However, run the MPG file through M2-Edit's Transcode option and convert VCD to VCD. Takes under a min and it tends to "fix" these sort of problems. Another option is to demux the final MPG file using TMPGenc (Simple DEmux) and them MPGE-VCR to Muliplex back to a VCD. Then burn with VCDEasy as you did.
