(gordian knot method)
1. rip the dvd with smartripper
2. run dvd2avi to demux the audio, making sure you don't have volume normalisation or downsampling checkedchecked - save project
3. open video in dvd2avi using the panel at the bottom of gordian knot, then crop/resize the video, removing the black bars at the top and the bottom.
6. check the video size using the bitrate calculator and resize the image till the bits/(pixel*Frame) is > 0.23
7. save the project in dvd2avi - make sure sharp bicubic downsizing is enabled.
8. open virtualdub, open the avs file you've created with dvd2avi then :
- change the compression type for video to divx 5
- set for single pass encoding
- check the advanced option checkboxes
- set the mode to fast recompress
- set virtualdub not to encode audio (no audio)
- save avi (will take hours)
9. Use besweet (from doom9.org) to change audio into mp3
10. Use nandub to mux audio and video, doing direct stream copies of both audio and video
