Using TMPGenc to convert avi to mpeg1

I have a 713 MB avi file that I am trying to encode to mpeg1 using TMPGenc. Result is a file that is 1,634,734 KB long. Obviously I need to split this ile to be able to burn it as a VCD on two or more CDs. Problem is when I try to split the converted file using TMPGenc, the audio cuts out, while I know it is there on the file before the split (the 1,634,34 KB file), because I can view and hear the clip when I play it using Windows mmedia player. Whats going on and how can I fix this audio problem?

I tried to use VirtualDub , but for some reason it wont open my avi file. Says 'VFW filter is needed' or something like that. How would I fix that

Re: Using TMPGenc to convert avi to mpeg1

There is a modded verson of VDub called VirtualDub-MPEG, available from here which will process mpg files. Worth a try.

Re: Using TMPGenc to convert avi to mpeg1

VirtualDub will handle mpeg1 and mpeg4 files eaqsily, but that cannot work without the required CODECs.
Install the VFW filters.
