Video Edit Software Discuss, Upload to Youtube. Tools to chop MPEG by time at International Chat: Software related forum; HI ! I have tools which chop MPEG by size but I don't have one that chops by time. I want to chop a MPEG to give 10min segment which can be uploaded to Youtube. Better still, if the tool can have some overlap so that the viewer can watch

Upload to Youtube. Tools to chop MPEG by time

HI ! I have tools which chop MPEG by size but I don't have one that chops by time. I want to chop a MPEG to give 10min segment which can be uploaded to Youtube. Better still, if the tool can have some overlap so that the viewer can watch the last 5 to 10 secs of the previous segment.

Can somebody recommend one ? Thanks.

If your goal is YouTube, you don't have to cut it as MPEG. I'd load it into VirtualDub Mod or MPEG, cut and resize it and render it to Xvid.

THanks ! I didn't answer sooner as I think the topic was moved and I didn't get a notification.

I'm uploading as MPEG and it takes a loooooooong time ! xvid is smaller, right but would it retain the quality as MPEG ? What about Divx as I'm more familiar with Divx... same quality ?

Thanks

Divx and xvid are very similar. Xvid may have a small advantage in quality, from the tests I've seen over at doom9, but insignificant for something you'd be uploading to YouTube.

Sorry, Xvid is a reverse engineered open source Divx clone. Hence the name...
