Tmpgenc problem

For some reason when I try to encode a .avi file into Mpeg1 I end up with an Mpeg file that's about 4 and a half hours long. The hour and a half movie is still an hour and a half long, but without sound. And when the movie has finished there is just nothing for the other 3 hours.

The .avi file plays as it should. It shows that the audio and video sources are there when I select the file to encode. I just can't understand why it takes away the sound and adds another few hours of blank screen to it.

Any help is very appreciated.

Gary

The audio problem is most likely because the file uses VBR mp3 audio. As for the other one, I am not sure, you could try using the source range filter to solve it though. Or try solving both problems by frameserving with AVISynth.

Sounds like major problems with the AVI file in the first place, and TMPGenc can "get stuck" and just keeps on outputting a black screen.

Run DivFix and/or DivXRepair to hopefully repair the AVI if possible (see http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....threadid=72073 )

Extract the audio with Nandub or VirtualDub (see the tutorials here) to fix the audio problem.
