TMPG DVD Author missing output ?

I've used DVD Authour a few times quite some time ago ...

I've just encoded a .avi file to a 3.95gb MPEG-2 file and have tried to author it with the above.

Everything goes to plan except that it only takes a few seconds and only gives me a couple files totalling less than 100kb instead of the full DVD ?

Any ideas why I can't get the full movie output ?

How have you encoded your MPEG2 file ? Is it as an MPG file or is it in elementry Video & Audio streams ? The 2 streams is always the best way to use TDA.

With TMPG Enc Plus ...

Started with an .avi file which I extracted the audio in a .wav from with virtualdub then encoded to MPEG-2.

I assume using the PAL DVD Template in TMPGEnc ? Did you convert your WAV file to AC3 or MP2 or leave it at WAV?

Assuming you converted to MPEG2 with the DVD Template and converted audio to AC3, I cant see why TDA has not accepted them and authored correctly.

Yep, used the DVD NTSC Template - the only difference being I left the audio as a WAV.

Would converting it to AC3 help ? If so, whats the best method to do so ?

Yes converting to AC3 would help. Use BeSweet/BeSweet GUI and set to a bitrate of 224 would be good. The AC3 will be substantially smaller than the WAV file. I also assume the audio has a 48khz sample rate and not 44.1? You will need to convert that also if it iis not at 48khz
