Subs out of sync in second half of movie

Odd conundrum: I had a movie broken into two files, each with an srt file. I merged the movies with VirtualDubMod and I merged the subs with Subtitle Workshop. The problem I'm having (that I've experienced with all sorts of movies) is that in the resultant movie, the subtitles are off sync in the second half of the movie (where the second file begins). They're a little late. What could be causing this?

Then create the ripped movie as one file, same for the subs, and your problems are solved.

Otherwise, I think you should read the forum rules again.

I'm sorry, I don't understand how I've violated the rules.

Yes, it really matters when they contain are copyrighted material.

Here is a hint: go to doom9.org or videlhelp.com, check the tools section.

You asked for help, so stop nagging.
Do it again and I will not resist to report you to the staff.
Just follow the rules, I do.

Re: Subs out of sync in second half of movie

Home movie from my cousin, with subs for my parents.
Listen guys, I'm really not trying to fight with anybody. I just had a problem and was wondering if I could get some help. If you have any advice, please let me know. I'm sorry if I've violated any rules. It seems like everyone is doing their best not to help me. I'm not trying to nag; I just thought this was the right place to ask this kind of question.

Sorry, that is lame IMO.
I already gave you a tip where you can find tools to fix such problems.

Re: Subs out of sync in second half of movie

The problem lies with Subtitle Workshop and the way it Joins SRT's together. Load the first srt into Notepad and change the very last subtitle length to the actual length of the first avi (VirtualDUBMod will tell you this). Note the line number. Save. Then join the 2 srt subs in Subtitle Workshop, editing the final save (I prefer Notepad to do this) back to original in the line you altered.

for example:
...
...
96
00:41:26,519 --> 00:41:28,228
I don't understand.

97
00:41:32,730 --> 00:41:34,939
- There it is!
- Okay.

If the actual length of first avi was 41m 37.50sec, then change the 00:41:34,939 in line 97 above to 00:41:37,500. Join, then edit line 97 back to original time.

Hope that has been more helpful
