Storage of movie cd's

As I seem to end up with 3 cd's per ripped movie, I was wondering how other rippers store their cd's. DVD cases only seem to be sold for single discs, but it would be nice to keep the discs together as a set for each movie.

So, what storage methods do others use?

Are you encoding your videos into video cds? (ones that will play on your DVD player)
or DivX video? If you are using DivX, you can lower the bitrate and fit the videos on one disk.
I'd suggest around 450-600 kb a second with divx at dvd resolutions.

Hopefully, this helps...

Sorry, didn't realise my question was ambiguous. I mean physically storing the discs.

@iq_132
I'm encoding them as SVCD's. I'm aware I could drop the bitrate and cram them onto fewer discs, but I want the best quality I can squeeze onto them, within reason, (I'm fussy) and the output I'm getting from my Omni player is pretty bloody good.

One would have to look at the resultant copy very critically indeed to pick the difference between it and the original.

I feel dumb

Anyway...
I'm not sure, i'd suggest making your own cases.
It shouldn't be that difficult to glue a couple of cases together

Hey, don't feel dumb, man. I've spent most of my life feeling dumb. My catchcry is "I'm an idiot"!

Your idea of gluing two cases together isn't as silly as it sounds! If I can buy some cheap cases, 2-disc and slim single, then, depending how they open, all I have to do is glue them back-to-back. Simple.

Cheers.

You should be able to find cases that provide storage for 3 cds as there are vcds that have 3cds (like The Postman, Godfather (all three of them) and some other 2hr plus movies). I had bought some of these myself way back (about a year ago) in Perth. Some of the cases can actually fit 4cds (2 double sided), while others have 1 single and 1 double sided. Happy hunting!

I'm a bit wary of wallets - I used one for some audio discs once while travelling, the discs were only in it for a few days, but when I removed them when I returned home some of the discs seemed to have a faint coating on them.

What brand/type of wallet do you use?

Anyone else like to add their experience(s) with wallets?

I put all my single CD movies in a standard CD crystal case. For 2 CD movies, I use double cases and for 3 CD movies (wait for it !!) I use Triple CD cases. All are the same physical size just with the tripple cases you cant have a back cover (well you can if you cut a hole out of the middle). All are alphabetical in a home made large bookcase. I have over 1500 movies and all cased with front covers and some with back covers.

Here in Oz you can buy Single or Double DVD cases very cheaply as well but I find them way to bulky so prefer the single slimeline cases for my DVD's and with front cover only.

TV episodes I tend to store in albums that hold 36 or 72 CD's (cheapies from the loacal weekend markets) but some CD's stick to them after awhile.

1500 movies?!? (Choke! Gasp!).

I can get cheap double cases ok, but haven't seen triples around. One of the discount stores has a zippered wallet (Laser brand) which holds 240 discs in removable sleeves, 4 per sleeve, but I'm concerned about any possible long term contamination from whatever plastics they use in these sleeves.

Maybe I should just store them back in the spindle tubs

A friend does that but sprays them black (on the outside) to keep the light out for long term storage, great for TV series.
