Ripping DVD Sequence

Hi all,

Im trying to cut a sequence from a DVD ( say a 20sec clip ) and output it to include in a motion menu im building.

Problem I have is that most of the "DVD Ripping" apps output the .avi, .mpeg files etc suitable for VCD's and SVCD's and even on best quality settings, I find that the output is still poor and too compressed.

Can someone tell me of a program that will cut a sequence from a DVD and output it to either an MPEG or AVI file at the same quality as the original ( I.E. full frame and uncompressed ) ?

Thankyou,

Nick

Re: Ripping DVD Sequence

Try TMPGEnc MPEG Editor. It outputs losslessly where ever possible, however it might need to re-encode the start and ends, depending where the cuts are.

Re: Ripping DVD Sequence

I tend to use DVD2AVI, load in the VOB file, set the range to the bit you want, then save Project. This gives you the AC3 audio as well. Encode that project in TMPGenc to DVD file/stream. There is never any compatability issues that way. I tend to do that for "extracting" original motion Menus off dvd's.
