Am i missing something or are you guys really dense. If you have a working liscence just convert the audio, movie or whatever file to another format. Effectively removing drm for ever.

For ex. I downloaded this show of the internet, it is drm protected
i have the login details for it now, but i might not later (ex. my account will expire or you can only play the file a certain amount of time)
Open the files in any video converter (i recomend winavi, or tmpegec)
Use the highest settings. Let it run.

There you go a drm-cracked file in 20 mins (depending on the size of the original file)

What are you talking about? DRM protected audio/video can't be edited with any editor or converter. It can't be touched. If you can do that, you are the first drm cracker i found.

btw: removing drm with drmdbg/drm2wmv does not convert your original audio/video actually, just remove drm header in the file, so we get lossless bitrate for the media and it same as original. That is the point.

Lets take it one more step. This thread is talking about an illegal task. By your own rules it breaks everyone of them. Shut it down.

Me like you, when look at people with 1 or 2 post with stupid question, I become frustrated. I'm also thinking like you, its all about legal or illegal. But it is fair to us working around with something we own it. We remove protection for media that we have licenses and we paid for.

How about people talking about copying cds,dvds etc. around this respected forum? alcohol, anydvd, dvd decryptor, clone cd, dvd fabs and so on, legal or illegal?

Ok L33VaNcL33F: Fair use is valid. These files with their mystery zip formats should make you think for a moment what is in those files. I can zip up anything and it could be read by anybody that knows how to turn a computer on. Why this mystery? Why all this cloak and dagger? Why is every user with a post count under 5 so zoomed into this thread? Go back and re read the thread from the start (something like 120 post ago) as I wrote the moment DRM is cracked on a large scale it will be on every file supply chain on the planet in minutes. Would make downloading star wars or Charlie and the chocolate factory look like practice. Yet no download still, How’s your attempt going so far. The day will come but today is not the day. This thread is as fake as fake can be and I challenge ANYONE to prove me wrong and show me a cracked DRM file from this thread.

I think you don't know how to use the tools [drmdbg and drm2wmv].
If you know how to use them, nobody need to prove that DRM has been cracked already. All of DVDs available in WMV HD[DRM protected] either need to aquiring online license or offline license generated by licgen in DVDs can be undrm within 10 seconds.

Below is the key if you want to undrm the movies, if you need other movies key, just ask me. If there are different KID, you need different SID and you can find it yourself by that tools. By giving this key, it doesn't mean I support warez for the movies, just for educational purpose only.

First of all, this is the first thing that turns up on google if you search about removing drm, and secondly everyone needs to start at post 1 you dont magically begin with 10 thousand posts upon sign-up.

so what is it ur doing then with all these keys and license and drm progs. im guesing the whole point is to playback the files. my error is bloody amazon didnt mention anything on its website saying this stupid dvd wouldnt playback in another region.

i just want to playback what i paid for.

Ok, let me just chime in on this.

I think people know I've been around here for a while, so here goes:

1. This DOES work, with some provisos.

2. I don't know why there are so many new users posting about it, I'm guessing because it's high in the Google search list for "drmdbg" which is supposedly "hard to find".

3. There's a 29-page thread over on Doom9 about this very topic, and lots of people there are having great success with this.

So here's the scoop.

A. There is currently NO KNOWN VERSION of these tools which will work with WMP10's latest version, OR with the latest Windows Media Format update. Not only that, but rolling back does NOT downgrade some of the key DLL's involved. This means that if you were foolish enough to let MS update your machine... you're out of luck unless you feel like uninstalling.

B. IF you have an older version of WMP10, or WMP9, AND you haven't installed the W.M.F. updates... then later versions of these tools will work.

C. The latest version of the tools is (as of today, February 19, 2006):

- drm2wmv_e.exe, the English-modified version of the original, created by a Doom9 forum member.
- drmdbg.exe version 1214 (that's December 14, 2005's release)

So there you have it. It IS valid, it DOES work (I'm not ADMITTING to having unprotected WMA/WMV files on my hard disc... but... *grin*), but MOST people don't have the right versions of the software.

Complicating matters is that there are a LOT of bad sets of instructions out there that advise unfortunate things like copying in older DLL's, copying in Japanese DLL's, etc.

So... leave the thread or close it, I don't much care. Just wanted to clear the air a bit!
