Well, assuming it's legal, is there anyway to do it?

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

You have to have the license. Nobody has yet "cracked DRM" for WMV if that's what you want. You have to have the license at least once... then you can unwrap the file for playback later.

Sorry.

Sorry.
I do not manage to obtain the license, which is the right procedure?

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

I tried this quite a while ago and all it did was totally mess up my WMP setup. I had to do a rollback just to play files I already have the license for.

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

Anyone have any drm protected content wmv or wma that unable to undrm, please pass to me the link for the content. If needed, also username and password if required login to get the license. I will send you back the key to undrm thats files. I like to test my system and study about drm scheme.

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

the software works well fo me but
i think we atleast need to have the password once to get the SID extracted

any one has a method to get it done without the password?

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

You all talking about drmdbg that is old one.
There are few new released drmdbg that is easy to use and working perfectly.
You only need two tools to un-drm any protected .wmv or .wma :
1. drmdbg.exe (there are version 527, 621, 1111, 1113, 1201, 1204, 1207, 1211, 1212, 1213, 1214)
2. drm2wmv_e.exe

Once you have licenses for the protected .wmv or .wma in your computer, you can get SID from indivbox.key to decrypted your protected files using these drmdbg and drm2wmv.

Note: If you install update KB891122, it updates many of the DRM components in your system, then drmdbg will not work anymore. Use only WMP9 or WMP10 v.3646 without any Windows Media Runtime updates.

Kind of interesting how this BS continues to grind on for weeks and all of the responders only have a post count of one or two. Makes one wonder if it's one or two people with many user names. Keep up the good work mods

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

JamesvonPC,

The best way to make sure it is working, do a clean install of WinXp.
Note : sp1 or sp2 with all latest updates doesn't prevent drmdbg to work properly. Remember only if you install update KB891122, it will prevent drmdbg to work.

At the first time you play any protected content after clean install, wmp will connect to internet for individualization or security upgrade. Let it do it, then verify that IndivBox.key version in your C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM is 10.0.0.3646. Only this version of IndivBox.key will work perfectly to undrm protected media in my knowledge. If you found IndivBox.key version 3930, drmdbg will not work anymore.

Some of content provider of drm media will ask you to install KB891122 before you can play the media. If this happen, you can't undrm the media anymore.

Ok, best luck

download wmp 10.0.0.3646 here:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...e1/mpsetup.cab
remember to extract the .cab

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

JamesvonPC,

In windows explorer, go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View
1. select Show hidden files and folders,
2. untick Hide extensions for known file types,
3. untick Hide protected operating system files

Apply, and see in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM

IndivBox.key will be there if you already apply the first time individualization or security upgrade. I think your file is protected by drm1 not drm2. Normally, wmp require personal individualization or security upgrade at the first time you try to play drm2 protected media. Old version of drm files protected by blackbox.dll and for drm2 there are in indivbox.key

Download the attachement for test, then let wmp download security upgrade for your system, then you will find the indivbox.key in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM

Ok, I will delete all my attachement now.

Below is the drmdbg versions for your reference

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

Ok so i got the packet to work, unzipped and all...All set!

As i run the sidda.exe in my cmd, follwed by my file name, looks like this:

C:\>undrm>sidda.exe 21.wmv

Right, so my media player runs, the program tells me to shut i down after a few secs, and so i do. Now im running into trouble! As i close the WMP window, a text box appears with the following error:

----
Run-Time error '62':

Input past end of file
----

Anyone else got this error, and how the fuck do i fix it?! tried the "longer" method, same problem...Frustrating!

Re: Removing DRM from WMV ???

Worx properly, thank u very much windowslover..

May help information as written in readme file of undrm:
I.Extract files into a directory named "undrm"
II.Copy the WMV file into "undrm"
III.Run drmdbg, it will open WMP Series 9
IV.In WMP, File->Open->Select the WMV file (you can open only 1 file at same time)
V.It will connect to server, a pop-up will appear and WMP9 will get DRM for the file from the site which the video linked to
VI.After Play button becomes active, you will see an alert window, click OK
VII.Now, on clipboard you have the copy of the message appeared in previous alert window, so to be able to use it, Start->Run, type Notepad, paste the text, File->Save as, save the text into "drm2" directory with the same name of WMV file and with extension "key" (e.g. c:\undrm\video.wmv is our file, c:\undrm\drm2\video.key is the text file).
VIII.Now hold the video.wmv file and move onto "drm2wmv_e". A Ms-DOS window will open and you will see that file is being restored without DRM. New file is on undrm directory..
At ease..

Happy new year guys..

By using new version of drmdbg (up to drmdbg1113), the key (KID and SID) info will be created automatically in your desktop. No need to paste from clipboard and no need to create key files manually anymore.
In your desktop a new folder name 'drm2' contain 'drm2-i.key' will be created containing all of your entire protected movies/musics's kid and sid in one file. What you need to do only drag and drop your files to drm2wmv_e, a new file will be created (copied from original) without re-encode them with new filename start with [NoDRM]-yourmoviesfilename.wmv or [NoDRM-yourmusicfilename.wma

Best Luck.

Isn't it convenient that all of these people just signed up December 2005 to make 1 post "thanking" windowslover for the program? I doubt that this many n00bs would sign up and post "thanks." Hell, most new people probably sign up to post a question about some problem they have. I know that was the first thing I did, lol. I am sure it is just windowslover signing up a bunch of new accounts, as bkf has hinted to. Hey, windowslover and all of your fake accounts, how about you stop being a tool and stop posting BS. BTW, I am reporting all of windowslover's posts, hopefully a moderator will take action.
