| Realtime Encoding In VirtualDub Hi folks, this is my first posting here so you can all shout newbie if its a silly question... Last night I decided to try VirtualDub as a VCR (after reading an article on the site) so I set it up to capture using the DivX codec and MP3 audio compression. It wouldnt do it... Couldnt open waveinput or something similar appeared. So in the end I just saved the audio raw as PCM and then opened the file back up inside VD and tried to compress the audio stream. Choosing the MP3 codec I couldnt find a 128kbps option, 64kbps was the highest listed. When I tried using any of the DivX audio compression codecs when Saving AVI in VD the progress bar would sit at 4096 bytes processed and hang (closing the dialog box brought about a VD error saying the resultant file probably wouldnt be usable). Am I missing something simple (perhaps an updated MP3 codec?) I know you guys are on the ball with this software so maybe could lend a hand ... Thanks Rikki PS: My main reason for trying this is because I want to capture the final Voyager episode into divx direct from my Digital set top box ![]() |

| I also am having problems using the audio divx codec. I'm using this one instead and it works like a charm. http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/radium_codec.html and it's working just fine. BTW: you're encoding the videostream realtime with DivX? Wow, you must have a monster of a PC . I usually encode with some fast and crappy codec (you wouldn't wanna save the video in raw format ).You can find some helpful information about encoding and stuff at http://www.divx-digest.com BTW. |

Dont have a monster at all, heres my system spec : Celeron 300a @ 450MHz 256mb PC100 40gig IBM ATA100 7200rpm HDD ATI Rage Fury Maxx 64mb DDR Cheap and Nasty Video Capture (Brooktree 848) AWE64 Gold I can encode straight to DivX no probpems at 350x300 or whatever the res is, 24bit 25fps. I think the problems are when u try to rip a DVD (the decoding and recompessing takes longer). Im off to download the codecs as suggested. Thanks once again. Rikki | |
