Real Video Editing

I'm stuck with a problem. I have a movie in Real Video format (.rm) in my HD, and its size is 812 MB. I wanted to split the file in two playable files, so that they could fit into 2 cds. Do you know any software that does that job? I wanted to create 2 files that could be seen individually, without having to join them together in order to watch the movie.

Thanks in advance

As far as I know, there are no rm-video edit-tools There's a way to "capture" the video to .avi while playing it (eg with snagit). The avi's can be edited with eg VirtualDub like any avi.

Not really user-friendly, but I don't know another way.

One other option would be to try using a 99 minute CD. These are getting more common now and hold up to about 870MB of data. I heard that some people will encode DivX or Xvid movies up to 850MB and use a 99 minute CD to store them in order to get higher picture quality without resorting to two CDs. Before getting a 99 minute CD, just check to see if your drive supports writing up to 99 minutes first, but most drives can read them fine

I have never found a 99 minutes cd for sale...
I know Real Video sucks, but I can't believe that there's no software that allows me to split a .rm video in two...

EO Video

EO Video claims that it will convert any video format to AVI or MPEG, and the Real Video format is supported. It will split and join as well. I have not used this program, and can not verify this, but you can download the trial version and find out.....
