problem with dvd to vcd using tmpgenc

ok im having soem problems with that tutorial. everything is fine up until the point where i use dvd2avi to get the audio. i "save project" and it saves the files needed, but the prob is that it saves it as a .ac3 file and now a .wav. i tried to make tmpgenc take the .ac3 file and it would not accept it. help please

That would be because TMPGEnc uses an ACM decoder for audio and there is no AC3 ACM codec. It probably would accept it if you cranked the directshow prioity and had AC3filter installed and set to downmix to 2channels.

Much better though to just use BeSweet or HeadAC3e to downmix/convert to mp2, then just multiplex with your video.

You could also have just set DVD2AVI to downmix and decode, however you wouldn't get as good a quality.

In DVD2AVI, make sure you set in Audio, the Output Method to Decode and NOT Denux.
