My video projects won't play in DVD format

I have Vegas Movie Studio+DVD and the system it uses to burn DVDs is DVD Architect Studio (there is no names like 6.0 or anything). Anyway, I burn the DVDs and they only play on my computer (Toshiba Satellite a215-s4757) with Windows Vista, but a normal DVD player won't read them. Do you know what the problem could be? I first tried to burn using DVD Architect and the burning lead out took forever but never finished. It would just tell me "time ran out" or something like that. So I googled it and read a forum that said to prepare it in another folder and then go to that folder and burn it from there. It still won't play in DVD players. Only in Windows Media. Drives me crazy!!

When I start the burn in Vegas Movie Studio , the video file path is .mpg the audio file path is .wav

When it gets to DVD Architect I click "Burn DVD" and prepare the project in a new folder (there is also a little note that says "No smart prepare data available") Whatever that means.

I click "Next" and burn my project but it only works in Windows Media Player.

When I had Windows XP on my desktop, my DVD Architect burned DVDs that worked in my DVD player in the living room. Now I have this Laptop with Windows Vista and it won't format for other normal DVD players.
I appreciate any help you can give me.

Re: My video projects won't play in DVD format

So you are taking an mpeg file and an audio file, encoding, and then authoring/burning to dvd? You mention that you went from XP to Vista. Is this also a whole new system with new hardware? What brand of dvd media are you using? How many different dvd players have you tried playing this on? Do you get any messages on the dvd player? Does it do anything, or is it just not recognized?
