| MPG file won't play I've got a mpg file here that doesn't play in the windows media player but does in PowerDVD. What can be the problem? It's size is 480x480 and it's 29,97fps; it's a svcd file. (some kind of 'homevideo') What I really want to do is add subtitles to it which I have in srt format. I wanted to use SubSync to do this but I won't play the file so I can't set start/end of the subs. Someone got a clue what's the prob?! ![]() |

| As far as my knowledge goes, WMP will play any format if it finds a Directshow filter for it. After installing PowerDVD, my WMP also plays VOB files.

| Just found out something. I opened VCDeasy and tried loading the file. But then it happend: VCDeasy told me it was no mpeg, but a dat file with a different extension!! It also told me how to change the file to a real mpeg2 file and it worked! I now can play the file in WMP. Now on to the 2nd part. Hookin a subtitle to it. Tried SubSync to sync the sub I've got but after an hour messing around with it still no luck. What I want, is to add the subtitle so I see it when I play in a standalone DVDplayer. Anyone? |

| WMP has no direct support for SVCD's and for playback totaly relies on other filters/codec instlled on your system. The mpg your having problems with was just copied off a CD without actually extracting it off. As far as putting subtitles into your SVCD for playback on your TV, hmm... sorry I know of no way to do that. Most DVD Players can only play SVCD's with subtitles that are permanent subtitles and they need to be hard coded in. I personly have no need for subs and rarely play with them. |
