Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 Knocks Out All Sound

PROBLEM: After installing Magix Edit Pro 11 all sound (including system sounds) are eliminated. I am unable to hear anything (wavs, mp3 etc) thru the sound card.

PROCEEDURE:
I set a system restore point before installation (thank heaven).

Installed Movie Edit Pro 11 (during change disk proceedure I could not eject disks-had to use paper clip).

Program started and worked well except...I lost all sound in my system (including system sounds).

Checked all Audio Properties and volume controls (Master Volume, wav, Line in etc) all 50% or more-none muted.

Uninstalled Edit Pro 11 - still NO system sounds or the ability to play wavs, mp3, etc.

Ran system Restore to point before Movie Edit Pro 11 was installed - All sounds returned.

Any thoughts. I would really like to use this program.

MY SYSTEM:
HP Media Center PC: PCm7060n
Window XP Media Center Edition 2005 Service Pack 2
Sound Card Realtek High Definition - Audio DRiver: 5.10.0.5033

Re: Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 Knocks Out All Sound

Not familiar with this program, but I did take a quick look at it. Looks like it's fairly cheap, so testing and support might be a little lax.

It appears to be loading some sort of an audio driver, (based on your experience and with a quick look at it). It may also be using some sort of a background process that's connected with the driver. Look for settings in the program's options that might affect audio.

Un-install and re-install your audio drivers AFTER you have installed the program. If that fails, consider looking at Adobe Premier Elements or Ulead VisualStudio 10+.

I've seen programs like this that mess with file associations and audio drivers, it's not nice at all. Good luck.

Problem solved! Thanks for your comments. Re-installed program from another CD Rom Drive and the sound problem was resolved. Go Figure.
