Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

Sorry, i don't know anything about Pinnacle 9 but you can try the " DVD Lab Pro".
I had a sync problem and with this program i resolve it

Start DVD Lab Pro and select "Simple (Movie Onily)", click OK
Import your NON-SYNC video to DVD Lab Pro and choose "Demultiplex to Elementary Streams".
This will create one Video .mpv and one Audio .mpa file.
Take this files from the down-left side of the program and place it to the up-rigth "Movie 1" window.
Now go to:
Tools ---> Audio Delay...
From here you can make your "experiments"...
If you hear the sound first and then you see the picture you must choose a positive number like this:
400 or 600 or 1000... ms
If you see first the picture you must choose a negative number like this:
-200 or -300 or -800... ms
Now make a "Process". A new audio .mpa file will be create now that appears to the down-left side of the program.
Replace the new (.mpa) file with the "original". Go to: Project ---> Compile DVD. Select a folder to save the result.
Open the new DVD video with a media player and see the difference.
Do this process again and again until the video is OK!!! This is a little trouble but the result it's the object...

A good idea is… crop a minute of your non-sync video to do your experiments.
With this way you will save a lot of time…

I hope that you understand my "instruction", (because of my English)...

Good Luck from me...

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

Hi Pel6,

After capturing the avi, you could convert to Mpeg o/p which is then going to be fed to the DVD authoring proggie and prior to that step feed it to Mpeg2Vcr which can resync upto a time desync of 2 secs. Then if the desync still exists then you could try yncing again. See the Help for more INFO. Though I agree with what the previous post stated, the syncing tool in DVD lab pro allows a desync of only 1 secs which is not much when you have a big sync problem.

Hope this helps.

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

What I have found using several DVD-authoring and capturing programs that if you have a heavily fragmented Hard drive it can cause delays during transcoding that can make the Audio and Video out of sync during some parts of the recording. The Quickest Fix is to use Diskeeper 9 it defrags 50X faster than windows biult in defrag, and optomise's you Hard disk. It is also one of the only programs that can defrag you master boot record.

Try Defag after and before you capture your video.

LOL, if I could solve this problem then I would be a millionaire! This is the most talked about problem on Pinnacle's Support forum. The best thing to do is buy a digital camcorder with an analog pass through. What I mean by this is buy a camcorder, Sony MiniDV for instance that will allow you to connect your VCR into it via the analog connection and then the signal will pass through the camera and be converted to a digital signal and input into your PC and ultimately into the Pinnacle 9 program, which I use by the way, via firewire. It works great everytime. Keep in mind this important tip as well. Capture small clips at a time, meaning, capture like no more than say 30 minute clips of video, this will also reduce any problems out O/S.

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

To avoid sync issues, keep your hd defragged, and shutdown background tasks, Especially Anti Virus, before capturing.

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

I am having this same a/v sync problem with pinnacle studio 9. By the harley2ride, were you in Chattanooga for the national Harley event this weekend?

I have tried using a Sony digital camcorder to convert analog VHS to digital and then bring the signal in via firewire. My machine has a 2.8GH p4 set for hyper threading. I have one gig of ram. The sound card is internal and i am using a HP double layer burner with a single layer disk. The sync is out even before burning. I like the idea of shutting down unnecessary processes but I really don't know which are necessary when I view them in taskmaster. Are you aware of any sites that can identify the processes by name? Thanks

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

Is your firewire onboard, or an add on PCI card? I once had some capturing issues with a PCI Firewire card because it was sharing an IRQ with another piece of hardware. You might look and see if the firewire hardware is sharing an IRQ. You shouldn't be dropping frames capturing via firewire. There are some freeware DV capturing apps such as WinDV, Windows Movie maker (use as a last resort , etc that you can use to capture with to see if the sync issue is related to Pinnacle in some way. I have used Pinnacle in the past and I find it very unreliable. I capture with Premiere. But I use a Canopus ADVC-100 as my caprtue device, and it locks the A/V streams together so there is never a sync issue. I once ripped a 3hour tape... stayed in sync the whole time.

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

I think the problem is at the source, I am capturing with stand alone
dvd recorder LiteOn 5005 and further editing on my computer, but not sure
where is the problem yet, or could be the satelite box Pansat 2500.

Nope, not in that area of the country.

Quickest way is to just boot up into safe mode and capture and burn from there...

If you search through these forums, you will find others who are having similar problems with the Pinnacle card. I would recommend the Plextor capture device (firewire/usb), the Canopus, or the ADS PYRO. All are high quality capture devices with good reviews and reputations.

I use a Liteon (5002 but similar to 5005), and I found that Nero Recode is the easiest and fastes package for editing out commercials, and rarely get audio sync issues.

Re: HOW TO SYNC VIDEO & AUDIO

Howdy all. Can someone out there give me some advice on what software would be best for what I want to do. I have some music DVDs which have a real crappy sound to them, but I also have the same concerts on CD which has excellent sound on them. What I would like to do is sync the CD audio onto the DVD, replacing the crappy with the excellent CD audio, by using a DVD/Audio syncing software. Is there something out there that will do this. Also, if I could also adjust the speed slightly on the DVD while syncing, that would be a big bonus to. Thanks in advance.
