How to get DVD to MP4 with subtitles I am a partially deaf person and I want to convert some DVDs to my Nokia N95 8GB mobile phone so I can watch them on the move. I have used DVDFab HD Decryptor to rip a DVD to the hard disk, but how do I convert the resultant .IFO and .VOB files to MP4 so I can transfer the movie to my phone? I have looked everywhere and there doesn't seem to be a workflow or solution how to achieve this. I hope somebody can help me out here. Regards. MC.

Re: How to get DVD to MP4 with subtitles Take a look at this guide: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic352374.html You'll note that you have to add subtitles separately, but there is a link to the necessary tool for extracting subtitles, called VSRip, and a guide for using it.

Re: How to get DVD to MP4 with subtitles Just having a quick go now and it says it will take 12 hours at 4fps to encode a DVD to MPEG-4. Why?? I can use SUPER and it will do the job in a fraction of the time. Anyway I can set the output size of 320 x 240? Thanks

Re: How to get DVD to MP4 with subtitles Ok, I tried it out with an avi file as input. The avi file was 52 minutes duration. I imported the avi, changed format to MP4 Nokia 5700, which was the only preset with Nokia in it. This turned out to be 320 by 176 resolution. I changed this to 320 x 240 by going to Video, Resolution/Aspect and changed the second value. There are probably other presets that already have this aspect ratio, I just didn't go explore for it. To increase speed of encoding I changed the default to x264 HQ Turbo, which is the quick encoding setting according to their website. My 52 minute video was converted in 9 minutes and 40 some odd seconds. Plays perfectly in VLC media player. MediaInfo tells me it is 320 x 240, 15fps, 385kbps. What frames per second rate do you need for your Nokia? Is it 15 like this preset gave me?

Re: How to get DVD to MP4 with subtitles If I might just quickly add something: am almost sure that Nokia smartphones accept an AV file with XviD as the video codec and AAC as the audio (plus of course .MP4 as the file extension). In other words it's not necessary for it to be an x264 video codec; which might further reduce the encoding time. IIRC it used to work on my Nokia N80. Mind you, that encoding time of 9 min 40 is pretty quick, Kerry...

Re: How to get DVD to MP4 with subtitles Get DVD to MP4 format? I think it's easy if you have the right converting program. I use DVD to MP4 Converter to converting my DVD disk to the MP4 file then I can enjoy my favoriate movie on my portable MP4 players.
