| Help needed - converting and editing a DVD Hi all, I am getting really fed up with trying to edit a DVD. I have a family home video that I made a DVD - using our Sony DVD recorder (not one that goes into the computer). I need to edit this video, and can't seem to figure it out. I'm looking to keep it at the same quality throughout, and not spend any more money. I have Adobe Premiere, but it cannot edit a DVD. I converted it to MPEG4 but it won't open it in Premiere. I also don't want something that's going to be very choppy. Any ideas? Thanks! |

| Re: Help needed - converting and editing a DVD Because you have Adobe Premiere, you should contact their support.

| Re: Help needed - converting and editing a DVD Editing software works best with avi and mov files. mpg files are highly compressed files that use GOPs (group of pictures) so that you only have one frame every 1/2 second. The other 14 frames are partial frames that contain only the pixels that have changed from the previous frame. DV footage from a DV tape will end up being 13GB per hour. I highly recommend using an external hard drive to store ALL of your video footage. The only way to edit your footage is to connect the camera via your firewire cable to your computer and capture the footage. |
