Hi

I wanna converft some Video casettes to DVD so I record them to my hard drive using ulead video studio 9 in the pal dvd format but the size of the files is so big +4 Go for every 1 hour of video!!! so I need a dvd for each 1 hour?!!!
plz how to make them smaller and how to split them in 0.99 Go's in order to burn them

What format are the files? Are they mpg, or avi?
What is your capture device? Why Ulead 9?
Any file, regardless of compression, can be re-encoded to a smaller size.
Once you have the correct dvd spec mpeg-2 files, you can then author them to dvd.

When you render it, you should be able to create a dvd file (audio and video TS folder, and from there, use dvdshrink if necessary to compress it even smaller. I have used the same software as you, and taken a 6gb avi, rendered it, prepared it to burn (which creates the TS folders), and then used dvdshrink to compress it further to burn to a dvd using dvdcrypter. Everything was hunky dorey...

The easy way, is to simply author the file to a DVD folder on your hard drive.
Use DVDShrink to make it fit, then burn it.
