| You might need to be more specific as to what 'poor' means. As for encoding in Xvid, I knows there's an option in global setting to 'enable grayscale' for b/w movies, but like I said, you need to be more specific. |

| What filter do you use for playback? I had this issue with ffdshow before, but fixed when I switched to Divx 5.0.3 decoder. Try changing the playback filter first. If that doesn't help, tick on the 'enable graysccale' option in xvid when encoding. If the problem still persists, perhaps someone else with greater knowledge is willing to help? |
