Re: Full screen [4:3] to widescreen [16:9] question.

The only way to convert 4:3 to 16:9 while maintaining correct aspect ratios it to cut off a chunk of the picture at both top and bottom. For a PAL picture if I can remember its about 64 pixels both top & bottom.

Re: Full screen [4:3] to widescreen [16:9] question.

Just follow my normal DVD to DVDR tute but in DVD2SVCD, select Anamorphic 16:9 and then tick in the Framserver tab the box "Edit as part of Video Encoding". Then start as normal, but just before CCE starts encoding the avisynth script pops up ready for you to edit. Edit so it reads similar to (its been a long times since I've done this so not 100% sure about the figures):

For PAL

Crop(0,72,720,432) <-- insert this line here
BiCubicResize(720,576,0,0.6) <-- edit this line if necessary
AddBorders(0,72,0,72) <-- delete this line if it exists

For NTSC change the 72 to 60, the 432 to 360 and the 576 to 480

Hope that works.

You'll get a sharper image using lanczosResize.
lanczosResize(720,576)
