Where does he state he has downloaded an illegal [warez] file? I think you've flown off the handle too quick mate!
All he said was that he downloaded a movie in .rar files and didn't know what to do with them.
I've downloaded loads of movies and movie clips from the net that are very legal, and some very big files as well.
What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? or are you a self-appointed Judge & Jury to accuse and sentence whoever takes your fancy?

Yeah, a DVD image compressed and split into multiple rar's and you think there is a chance that it is legal?

How do you know for sure? You have no idea what he has downloaded...or is everyone gonna start acting like the RIAA and consider everyone who uploads/downloads/shares files a pirate?

I closed the thread, not cico and if Lincolncomets has a legitimate complaint, he's welcome to send me a PM and if, but only if, I'm satisfied that the download was legal, I'll re-open the thread.

OK, not wanting an argument here or to get nasty, lets assume this....
I make a post claiming I've downloaded some MP3 and need to know how to turn them into proper CD-DA to play in my Hi-Fi system. Now, does that make me a nasty man like the type the RIAA are looking for? How the hell does anyone know what I've downloaded apart from me?
Its damn funny how you people at CD Freaks are quick off the mark to take up arms against the RIAA and other such odious mobs in your "news" section for issuing subpoenas to people who have alledgely downloaded illegal warez, yet someone posted that he has downed a film, but never said what it was or where he got it from, and all of a sudden you assume its an illegal download...

Good. Let's not.

In general, the forum policy is to give the benefit of the doubt.

However, where doubtful, posts are often considered on an individual basis and, as celtic_druid has pointed out, in this case, the likelihood of the download being legal is remote. Hence the thread was closed.

Nevertheless, as I indicated above, if Lincolncomets has a legitimate (not hypothetical) complaint about it being closed, I'm open to persuasion.

Nuff said.
