| Edit movie - Adding effects - Joining two clips Hey! I have a few clips (mixed formats). And I want to add texts' flying in from e.g. the corners, and I want to add music in the background. Maybe joining a few clips. You know, just simple movie editing. I rather not use Adobe Premiere. I've tryed it and it's a pain in the ass. So difficult, so I need a user-friendly software. How is Vegas Video? Thanks in advance! |

| If you think Premiere is hard (I love it but I've also gone a course on it ) maybe Pinnacle Studio (link) falls more in your taste. Granted it can not do all the very advanced stuff Premiere does but it does your requests and it is, unlike Premiere, pretty intuitive.I've tried a Vegas video editor, not sure if it's the same that you're talking about but I thought Premiere was easier than that one (forgot it's name).

| Thank you for the tips (Mr) Airhead.. I'll try and see if I can find a demo on Pinnacle Studio, and then I'll tell you my opinion.. And about the course, did you take it here in Sweden? Through a school, or was it for anyone to take? Yours sincerely, |

| Re: Edit movie - Adding effects - Joining two clips Ulead Video Studio is surely what you want. You can add sount and text flying and appearing from where you want and running out how you like as well as user friendly as you prefer. You can download it from here Edit: http://Edited link...no you can't as it contains a keygen. This is a violation of our forum rules. ~Crabbyappleton Last edited by Crabbyappleton; 06-07-2006 at 01:38. |

| Re: Edit movie - Adding effects - Joining two clips i'm not sure if you're looking to spend money or what, but for a beginner just putting some things together and adding a few basic effects, windows moviemaker works just fine. the interface is pretty straightforward and whatever you can't figure out should be covered in its help files. not as fancy as some of the other programs, but many people already have it installed on their systems...I have premiere and am fairly good with it, but even I'll toss together the vacation videos in moviemaker from time to time just because it's faster ![]()

| Re: Edit movie - Adding effects - Joining two clips Adobe premier's about the nearest to industry standard you're going to get. The fact that you've discovered it a "pain" means you must have at least got to grips with some basics. Whichever software you use you're going to apply the same principles which'll require getting your head round if you wish to do "basic editing". If you've got a copy, the time you spend guessing at another application would be better spent getting to grips with premier. Unless you go avid or final cut pro you're only about to take a short cut to mediochrity. I hope I've encouraged you to press on with premier. Is there a particlar aspect you found a pain that I could perhaps help clarify? "If it was easy-everyone would be doing it" Best of luck, regards P.S

| Re: Edit movie - Adding effects - Joining two clips supapete, while i agree with you that premiere is a valuable and semi-professional level tool, for people who are interested more in throwing some videos together with simple transitions and probably won't continue on to serious editing projects, it's not worth the time necessary to learn it. i've been working with premiere for about 5 years now (since I was 16) and I'm sure there's still tons of stuff i don't know how to do. for the basic functionality that the original poster requested, i don't think it would be a detriment to their project to use a more basic program. using a professional program by no means implies that you'll get a professional result. i have no doubt that someone very experienced and comfortable with even a simple program like windows moviemaker will produce a better quality project than someone who is unsure of themeselves and uncomfortable with using premiere.

| Re: Edit movie - Adding effects - Joining two clips Yep, fair enough. I have a reflex "encouragement mode" derived from students who want instant gardening and instant No1 hits. Sorry. I suppose forums are for people who want instant gardening and it's a normal and acceptable practice on the "outside". I'll remember that for the future. regards P.S

![]() in the real world, the simple products do so well because people don't have the time or patience for learning such an involved program. besides, i think the progression is important. you start by experimenting with a program that's your level...you know it's time to move on when you start wanting to do things that your program is incapable of. if premiere was the first editing program i ever experimented with, I probably would have given up. it's not an easy program! (plus it helps i that i majored in tv/film and had to use FCP for routine homework assignments...i really wish i had taken avid classes while I was in college though.)
