DVD2AVI program - keeps crashing on me

I have extracted my VOBS, saved the project in DVD2AVI and I am now trying to convert it to AVI format.

The options I have include several Codecs (why the hell can't there just be one or two standards, and how on earth is anyone going to be able to find the correct codec to use with my video file???)

And the other option is NO RECOMPRESSION --

I have tried divX MPEG 4 with 5000 bitrate setting (pretty high quality) and then clicked start - after a few seconds the program crashes to the desktop with an error message - please send this error message to microsoft yes/no --

I have also tried NO RECOMPRESSION but encountered the same problem-

Do I need to use another program on my newly extracted VOBS? My movie came up just fine (for viewing) in the AVI2DVD program - although I wasn't hearing any sound - - Can anyone tell me if the sound is automatically encoded into the AVI even though I cannot hear it? Or will I need a seperate software to splice in the audio (I really don't want to do that - - I have no need to process the audio any further.)

Thank you for your kind helps!
Sincerely,
DANNY

I only use DVD2AVI for demuxing audio and saving d2v to import into Avisynth or TMPGEnc.

Avisynth is this a program or a plugin?

I installed something called avisynth 2.5.5 beta release and I can't find a program icon on my desktop for it??? I browsed to the folder and found .DLL files but no executables?

Did I download the correct program that you are talking about?

How do I get it to plugin to the other program?
(unless it's automatic and I didn't see it?)

thank you
DANNY

You have to write a script for avisynth (avsfile) and then open it in VirtualDubMod/TMPGEnc.
