DvD to DiVX / AVi / MPG / Whatever? - Club CDFreaks

What would YOU. yes YOU, recommend for converting a 1.3 Gig DvD movie to my machine/PC.

Wanna be able to compress it enough to fit on a single CD!

Have a few things in mind, but thought I'd see whats being bested out there!

Ive been using and experimenting with TMPGenc and it seems to work pretty good. I mainly use it for changing Divx AVI's to Mpeg
format. Once you locate a copy of it, you can go to www.vcdhelp.com(it might be vcdhelper.com) I have started using it to convert chopped up porn movies from Avi to mpg, to burn for porn compiliation cd's.

You werent that specific....

If the 1.3gb is the MPEG2 exact copy of the DVD, then I would recommend FlaskMPEG/XMpeg and compressing it to one CD from there, you'd be able to select a really high bitrate.

If you've already done some compressing with your movie and its 1.3gb, I'd say use something like Nandub to split it in two cos 1300 / 2 = 650, perfect for 2 cds

If you wanna convert a Dvd to Divx use the nandub method this one is using VBR and gives you one hell of a quality.

All programs mentioned you can find at doom9 Also a lot of info how to use it and a nice forum concerning movies.

If u want to make a rip from an DVD to your harddisk, then I would say u to use EasydivX 0.73. U can find it here
Easydivx
But if u want to make an AVI file smaller then, compress it with divx 4.02 codec.
