Video Edit Software Discuss, Dvd 9.7 Gb? at International Chat: Software related forum; DVD 9.7 GB? when are they to come out? will i need to buy a new DVD burner for them? or will ones out now work? is this a new format? or what is the deal?

Single side, dual layer? For this you will need a new burner (with different optics to write to the second layer, without destroying the first layer).

you have lost me. it is not a dual layer disc? it is just a 9.7GB disc, correct? and all i will need to do it upgrade my firmware according to this mystery company that is making this?

ok, well now we got all the dual layer sorted out...so you are saying it will only work with phillips?

i find this extremly hard to believe and until i see some hard evidence i will believe it.

pressed dual layer discs are 8,4 and not 9,4!

This would certainly not be compatible to current DVD-ROM drives.

Anyone know of any chemicals which work like this?

Ones which block light at a certain frequency, can change the frequency they block at, and will stay once it's been changed?
