| audio too small all those views and no help that is my fault !!!!!! i dont think i explained it too well i was using the excellent guide from chicken man to convert divx to dvd-r, using dvd2svcd, the film was jasonx 01:30:00mins in length when the process was completed the audio files were not large enough, the film (jasonx) would only produce 01:07:00 mins of audio the actual film length is 01:30:00 so consequently i was missing 23 mins of audio. umm after further thought (not too much) I loaded the divx file into virtualdub (probably should have done that to start with) which in turn screamed at me the following; Virtualdub has detected an improper VBR encoding in the AVI file this may introduce 14142ms of skew from the video stream (sounds nasty) If unacceptable. decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder bitrate 126.0+/- 14.5kbps ( yeah right) so i extracted the audio to an uncompressed WAV file and low and behold the wav file was 01:30:00mins. used AC3 machine and produced an ac3 file which was 01:30:00mins so far so good all that remains to do i hope is re-run DVD2SVCD and use the .mpv file from dvd2svcd and the .ac3 file i got from the ac3 machine, add them into spruce up and (fingers crossed) it should produce a dvd-r which has all the audio in it. if anyone is interested i will post the result later |

| DVD2SVCD does not always extract the audio 100% like you just found. If there any small problem in the audio track it tends to stop audio extraction at that point and the rest of the program continues. Using VirtualDUB is exactly what I would have suggested as you finally got a WAV file. However, VirtualDUB does not like VBR MP3 audio as per the error it came up with. Best is to use Nandub instead and it will create a proper WAV file for ya from the VBR MP3 audio track. The one from VirtualDUB may show places in the final film where audio is out of sync for a while and then back in sync. |

| try something more complex You could do it the hard way: - Use something to extract Audio from the VOB-Files (I suggest 'vobfilt' or even Flask->DirectStreamCopy) - Take the audio and use HeadAC3he (newest version) to encode an audio stream (or you may use Sonic Foundry Soft Encode to create PCM-WAV and use to MP3-Producer to create MP3-WAV which can be imported in any Virtualdub ![]() My preferred method (i never had problems on this): - ifoedit (to extract audio from the source vobs) - vobsnoopy (to get the real audio stream, mostly ac3) - if errors in this ac3 use ac3fix or ac3cutframes - HeadAC3he (for ac3-encoding, take encoding method what you want) --- at the moment i use the ac3-streams (BIG BIG SMILE)- nandub (to mux video and audio, i preferr nandub, because it can do 2 audio streams!!!) - bsplayer (to play back, and you may even select another audio stream when the movie is running) Trick: no audio at bs-player with ac3-streams in avi? Try using some filter pack like 'tsunami'

| I have a similar Problem but with different effects... I noticed it when I was finishing authoring with TmpgEnc DVD Author. It produced a movie that was only 10 Minutes long. It took me a while to find out what was wrong. Basically DVD2SVCD stops extracting the audio file, and DVD Author stops the movie at that point alltogether. Then I experimented with virtual dub, the obvious choice, and extractet the audio from the divx file into a wav. But when I use AC3 Machine it comes up with stream errors and the resulting AC3 file is out of sync with the movie. The first minutes are ok, but when you reach the point where DVD2SVCD stopped extracting and AC3 Machine hickuped, the audio starts to lag behind the movie. I tried to use Nandub instead of Virtualdub, I tried compressed and uncompressed wavs, still the audio lags. Compressed Nandub and Virtualdub produced identical filesizes, uncompresed I did not look. Does anyone have a fix on that, I'm running out of ideas. Hope somebody can help. |

| Firstly welcome to the forum. It would have also been better if you started a new thread with your question rather than tack it onto a 4 month old one that has little to do with your question. As for your problem, the AVI file is simple stuffed. You can try DivXRepair to see if it can help. http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=75428& If it doesnt help, you can always do a recover in DVD2SVCD and get it to remux the extracted sound with the video (last step in dvd2svcd) Then cut the mpg file at the point it has problems, then read the How to Fix A/V Sync problems tutorial on the seconf part, then load each part into TMPGEnc DVD Author.
