| DivX -> DVD subtitles Hello, The last couple of days I've been converting DivX/Xvid movies to DVD-R. I author them with DVDMaestro so I can add subs. My question is: what settings do you use for the subtitles? Font, Size, Color. The last ones I did were with Arial, bold, size 24 and white but I'm not completely pleased with them.. Does anyone know what they usually use on retail DVD's? |

| I tend to just accept what Maestro throws up as any fidling I have done results in no change. If you use DVD2SVCD w/ CCE to convert your DivX to DVD compliant streams, then it can import the Subtitles also and they tend to retain the original specs of the subtitle. |

| how do you add subs that are in .sub or .srt, no .idx.in cce divx-dvd-r? Hey chikman how exactly did you do this? how do you add subs that are in .sub or .srt, no .idx. just this formats.? in tmpgenc its just needed to have the same file in the same directory "name movie.avi and movie.sub" in the guide divx 2 dvd-r you didnt add subs, but i choosed permanently subs in the dvd2svcd program but the problem is that cce takes like 1:30h for a 1:25h movie and creates .bmps as lines are in the sub file, its very a bad process, tmpgenc its better in this cause it use vob_sub. also in cce you can choose font, or size. did you have another method for cce, because your guide its the only working i found it. ill comment you later about audio issues in others post. |

| I dont say much about subs in the tutes becaue I personally dont use them so I have little experiance with them. But for AVI's, if you have a separate *.srt file, in DVD2SVCD, just tick ON subtiles in Subtitle tab. Set the rest of DVD2SVCD up as usual. When you click on GO button, one of the options is now "Add External Subtitle Stream". Load it in there and it carries on exactly as if your ripping a DVD that had subtitles. Only done this a couple of times and both without problems.

| I'm trying to do exactly what Razofist was trying to do. I could do perm subs, but I want something that can be turned on/off. Especially great for learning languages. ChickenMan: could you clarify how to import those subs in DVD2SVCD? I can only see the Subtitles tab when I select DVD in the Misc tab, but then I can't load the AVI file for processing, only DVD. |

| .srt or .sub -> DVDR I have some DVDR movies without subs and I have .srt and .sub files for DivX DVD-rips of the same movies. Is there some way that I can convert these subs into something that I can include on the DVDR (by re authoring or something like that)? If yes, how do I do that? Thanks you. |

Spruce Technologies text format (.stl) Daikin Scenaristâ„¢ TIFF-based format (.son) the problem is getting them into the program without getting "Media detection error" message. I tried using MaestroSBT program to convert subs to .son (DVDMaestro format) and also another program Subtitle Workshop (which looks like it can conver to anything), and neither .son files worked. Any idea on what program can export subtitles so that I can drag them into DVD Maestro? Thanks! | |

| I use submax which checks for errors in the subtitles and save it as .stl . then you can edit the stl in notepad to change font, size etc. to manipulate fps and timing i use Subtitle Workshop. and SubtitleTool which is great. but submax checks for errors like overlaping subs and stuff like that, and supports many formats. Hope this helps |

| Thanks, I'll try several options in this proggy, never used it before. Maybe it'll solve my problem of subs going out of sync on all movies. Some languages I can notice the shift because I could understand the words, but that means I have to go into the middle and the end of the movie which will spoil it. hope this one fixes it. |
