Determining variable or constant bitrate video?

Hi, I'm searching for a tool or some way to determine whether a file is variable bit rate or constant. The files in question are xvid and they look so good that I just need to know how they did it!

Is there a proggie or program that you can get "info" on a video with?

Use GSpot and VirtualDub.
