DVD->DivX problems

Im having a few problems with backing up Armitage III Dual Matrix while following ChickenMans tutorial.

1st off, I used Smart-Ripper to RIP the DVD to hard drive, then I used latest Vidomi to convert to .avi

I wasnt able to select Audio track 1, there was nothing in the list. So I started the conversion regardless. About one and a half hours later its done a 67MB avi. Finished, nothing more. Didnt play, unregognised format.

I tried with the version of Vidomi that is in the tutorial and same results (Its nice being able to follow the directions, I found it a bit hard with the latest Vidomi)

So I tried a snippet from a live DVD (Live drum solo) and that worked perfectly. A bit blocky, but it is fast motion.

I tried re-Ripping it after that, same problem. No audio to select. However, I get the option to select track 1 if its the 2nd 3rd or 4th vob files. Not the 1st.

If I continue regardless, the same problem occurs, 67MB avi after one and a half hours. Plays, but with no sound.

After the RIP I have 1.35GB hard drive space if thats an issue.

So far Ive been able to select audio track 1 for the 1st .vob file. Simple really, I had file types as MPEG files and that was giving me trouble, so I just set the file types as IFO files and voila, works fine.

Now Im going to see what I can get from the conversion. Hopefully no more 67MB .avi files.

Well, I gave up on Vidomi, tried DVD2AVI. Worked pretty good. Only problem was it had so many lines across it (I believe its called interlacing) that I deleted it rather that attempt to fix it up.

So I went to www.divx-digest.com grabbed a tutorial and GordianKnot Rip Pack, and everything worked fine.

I now have a 623MB avi sitting on my hard drive ready to be burnt, the quality is quite good with no synch errors whatsoever.
